TEDDY BEAR CLINIC AT MITCHELL COUNTY HOSPITAL HEALTH SYSTEMS

The Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems Auxiliary, in collaboration with Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, hosted its annual Teddy Bear Clinic for kindergarten students this fall, an event designed to help young children feel more comfortable with healthcare settings.
This early exposure to healthcare helps to reduce fear of doctor visits and teaches children the importance of health and wellness from a young age. It also fosters trust between families and healthcare providers, setting a positive tone for future medical experiences.

The students were welcomed with their very own MCHHS teddy bear and “employee” name badge. Kindergarteners from Beloit, St. John’s Catholic School, Lakeside, Tipton, Mankato and Sylvan-Lucas had the opportunity to explore both clinical and non-clinical departments of MCHHS. Throughout the clinic, the children engaged with healthcare professionals in a fun and non-intimidating setting. Each year, many hours are dedicated to the success of this event, which began in 1990 as the Doll Clinic, originally created by Vickie Mears and Mary Jane Chapman of the Auxiliary.

At MCHHS, we are more than a hospital. We are committed to making a difference in our community by fostering a sense of trust and care early on. Through events like this, we strive to create positive, lasting connections with families and show that healthcare is not just about treatment, but also about prevention, education, and building a healthier, more informed community. MCHHS is proud to work jointly with the Auxiliary and our area school districts to offer this opportunity to the youth of our communities.
