Bereavement Services
Solomon Valley Hospice provides a “companioning” approach to providing grief support. This approach is less about being an “expert” and more about being present with another’s pain. It involves listening more than directing; walking alongside, not “fixing”. We know how important it is to find validation, companionship and a sense of belonging at this most vulnerable time of your life. Companioning is about supporting people, through acceptance of the pain of loss, to come to a renewed sense of hope, meaning, and purpose.
Bereavement Services Include:
*Education on grief through mailings
*Individual support through phone calls or in person
*Outreach bereavement groups
*A bereavement buddy
*Additional resources for more professional support
We understand the pain of losing someone can be all consuming. It can feel like a physical wave of completely unexpected emotions like anger, guilt, or even relief. For others, it’s a spiritual challenge, casting doubts on our firmest beliefs. We believe the only thing worth knowing about grief is that it’s complex. Your path to healing is uniquely personal and you will get there in your own time, but we are here to support you every step of the way.
